University students win short film contest about workplace harassment

Mexico, Dec. 15 (Notimex).- The students Ignacio González Ruiz and Brenda Pamela Enríquez Medina, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM, for its acronym in Spanish), won first place in the Second Short Film Contest "La seguridad es en corto". The work of the ninth-semester students of the degree in Communication Sciences of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences entitled "Compañeros" was done with the Motion Graphics technique. In 90 seconds and narrated in first person addresses violence from the perspective of harassment at work, because it is the place where a person spends the most time of his life. The contest was organized by the Unit of Analysis on Social Violence in Mexico of the Institute of Social Research of the maximum house of studies. "We opted for an animated project, in which there were no faces or actors, so that nobody felt affected or identified", said Ignacio González Ruiz, producer of the short film. Meanwhile, Brenda Pamela Enríquez Medina, writer of the short film, explained that the message was subtle, but that it was really perceived with great emotion, but without trying to attack and with the aim of preventing harassment so that it does not lead to more violence. The second place went to Kevin Zamora of the Mexican Association of Independent Filmmakers with his short "Voces Silentes". While the third site was for "Marea", by Sabrina Teijo, from the Universidad del Valle de México; Adrián García, from the Technological University of Mexico; and Sergio Salas, from the National Polytechnic Institute.
