Mexico concludes humanitarian aid mission in Peru

Mexico, Apr. 6 (Notimex).- Elements of the Federal Police and the National Civil Protection Coordination arrived Thursday in Mexico City from Peru after completing their safeguard work in support of the population affected by the floods at the end of March. During the nine-day stay in that nation, the Mexican delegation, made up of 36 troops, carried out the evacuation of the population that was in affected communities, as well as medical care. In addition, it participated in the safe rescue, via terrestrial, aquatic and aerial, of more than 600 inhabitants of different damaged populations, it was informed in a statement. Mexican officials from both the Federal Police and Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob, for its acronym in Spanish), coordinated with the National Police and the Peruvian army, intervened in several rescue operations in flooded areas, highlighting the region of Piura. The team moved to Peru on March 28, in response to a call for help made by the Community of Police of America (Ameripol, for its acronym in Spanish), with more than two tons of specialized equipment, autonomy for seven days and radio communications.
