Students from Zacatecas create application to inform countrymen

Mexico, Monterrey, Dec. 11 (Notimex) .- Students at the Monterrey Tech (ITESM, for its acronym in Spanish) in Zacatecas developed an application that aims to provide information about migrant centers, the embassy and consulates to Mexicans who are in the United States. The private institution said that the "MigrApp" application was developed by Marco Ricardo Soto, Mario Alberto Alfaro, Rodolfo Adrian Ramos and Alfredo Alejandro Valenzo, students of the degree in Innovation and Business Management (LDN, for its acronym in Spanish). The university said that with this application the university students won first place in the national competition Vive conCiencia 2015, organized by the Citizens Agenda for Science, Technology and Innovation. It highlighted that the application provides information on migration centers, embassies and consular offices to which migrants can go, as well as promoting the rights they have in that country and those they have in Mexico. Soto said that "it began as a project for the second mid-term exam of the subject of Innovation project in technology-based businesses." He said that rather than a school project, it became an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge acquired in school and in life. "The teamwork worked very well and we all were in the same page of what we had to do as a project and product," he added. He said that "everyone contributed with ideas for improvement in qualitative, quantitative feasibility research, and we used studies conducted by prestigious universities such as Princeton University, to estimate our market." He explained that this application will be available from January 2016 and will be free for migrants, which also aims to raise awareness in society about the problems that Spanish-speaking migrants living in the United States face. He said that "MigrApp" can be downloaded by people who want to enroll in volunteering for this noble cause, serving as human rights lawyers, teachers teaching children and young people, children of migrants and general volunteering." This is how this application aims to benefit the millions of Mexican migrants that are in the United States, Soto reiterated. NTX / GRR / LBR / LNP / VGT / SGSR
