Renault to manufacture pickups in Mexico

México, June 2 (Notimex).- The new CEO of Renault Mexico, José Luis Montiel, announced positioning plans for the French brand in the country, including a new production line of pickups in Nissan plant in Cuernavaca, Morelos. In a presentation to the press, the Mexican manager said that the production plan of the pickups is contemplated for 2016 and will be directed to the domestic market. "There is a pickups manufacturing project in Cuernavaca for next year. We will develop a pick up for the Mexican market using the entire platform and experience the Nissan group," he said. He stressed that this is the way that Renault will use the alliance with the Japanese automaker to manufacture through a Nissan production line. He announced that to conquer the Mexican market, where they only occupy a 2.0 percent share of sales, the company will conduct a communication campaign so that consumers know the brand, with a commitment to commercial vehicles, which is an important area of opportunity. One of the markets with the greatest opportunity is in the south, although the work will be done to position the brand around the national territory, he added. Renault Mexico expects to maintain that 2.0 percent share for 2015, which corresponds to approximately 27 thousand vehicles, but with an estimated 5.0 percent growth for 2020. José Luis Montiel said they will offer consumer Interesting financing plans to strengthen the brand, which, he stressed is among the top three most economical maintenance ranks.
